Mark Wahlberg’s family burger chain Wahlburgers closed its Coney Island location this month, but sources exclusively tell Page Six that location’s not the only one in trouble.
The company has said the Brooklyn location will reopen, but there have also been problems launching a Times Square location.
“They have not been paying their bills,” says a source of both shops. “They were on the verge of being locked out of Coney Island” for not paying rent.
We hear Wahlburgers is behind on rent on its 8,300-square-foot location at 725 Eighth Ave., owned by Thor Equities.
The burger spot took the space in 2015, but has yet to open. “They’re having trouble opening in Times Square. There’s some financial issue,” a source says.
Another source says staffers at the Coney Island location were stiffed and “they have not been paying their bills.”
